Bio

Diana Li is an artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, currently residing and working in Huchiun, unceded Ohlone land. Diana’s work is eclectic and evolving, from sound and video installations glitching diasporic memories, crochet affirmation clothing and accessories to linocut prints of mythological creatures. A self-proclaimed hija de chifa y chicha,* she traverses time and space to draw closer to the cultural lineage of her Chinese Cantonese and Peruvian ancestry.

Diana has also worked as an arts organizer and served as the Director of the Asian American Women Artists Association (AAWAA) from 2020-2024. With 10 years of experience volunteering, curating and managing multiple exhibitions, programs and festivals through various Asian American focused organizations–like Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center, Kearny Street Workshop and AAWAA–Diana has worked to uplift and empower a diverse community of artists.

In 2024, Diana made a career shift. She is currently studying and working as an emerging landscape gardener, while prioritizing time to work on her art.

Hija de Chifa y Chicha*

My lineage is of Chinese Cantonese and Peruvian ancestry. I am continuously learning about the indigenous lands my ancestors and I have resided on and acknowledge the imperialist powers and systems of extraction and exploitation that have erased this knowledge from my lineage.
